HCG Diet Recipes

The HCG diet is an extreme low-calorie program that many dieters find difficult to maintain. Though HCG weight loss plans differ, many are restrictive not so much in regard to what people can eat, but in how much they can eat: a 500-calorie-per-day regimen — which some in the medical community say is borderline starvation, and which the FDA has labelled as “hazardous” —  is required. Get information on the HCG diet protocol.

HCG Diet Menu

Some of the foods included in HCG diet recipes include:

  • Meat (veal, beef, chicken and some fish are allowed, but limited to 100 grams per serving)
  • Vegetables (greens, celery, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, asparagus and cabbage)
  • Fruit (apples, oranges, strawberries and grapefruit)
  • Beverages (water, coffee, tea)
  • Seasonings (salt and pepper, garlic, herbs, mustard powder, vinegar)

Within these restricted guidelines, dieters have come up with some interesting HCG diet recipes. Proponents of the plan claim that by sticking to to the HCG diet menu and taking daily doses of the female pregnancy hormone HCG — either through drops, pellets, or sprays — that patients can lose an extreme amount of weight in a very short period of time.

HCG weight loss may not be safest solution

Although some dieters claim to have had success with the HCG weight loss program, numerous doctors have voiced concern over the safety of the program. The required daily caloric restriction of 500 calories is considered a near-starvation diet by many standards, which could lead to dehydration, headaches, and hair loss. In addition, once dieters go off the restrictive diet, they often quickly gain the weight back again.

Dr. Michael Kaplan of The Center for Medical Weight Loss explains, “There are many physician-directed weight loss programs that are scientifically proven to achieve sustainable results without the health risks of the HCG diet.”

Dr. Kaplan and his team offer personalized weight loss programs that incorporate diet and exercise under the careful guidance of an experienced physician. The program is proven to help people lose weight quickly and successfully, as patients at the centers lose on average 11.1 percent of their body weight in just 12 weeks, and over 90% maintain weight loss after one year.

Currently, there are 450 centers nationwide to help dieters achieve their weight loss goals. To see if there is a center in your area, enter your zip code in the box to the right. Introductory offers are available to first-time visitors at select locations.
