A new diet fad is sweeping the nation, despite growing concern over HCG diet dangers. WebMD reports that Kevin Trudeau’s latest bestseller, “The Weight Loss Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About,” promises to be the easiest way to lose weight today. However, with four complex phases, including injections of pregnancy hormone HCG, this diet may not be the simple solution that dieters are hoping for.

The Easiest Way to Lose Weight?

“The Weight Loss Cure” is drawn from the findings of British endocrinologist Dr. Simeons in the 1950s. Trudeau suggests that Dr. Simeons’ findings have been locked away for decades by medical professionals who are making big money by helping people lose weight themselves. The great “secret” discovered by Dr. Simeons has also been hidden by the FDA and AMA for the same reason. Trudeau now claims to be bringing the ultimate weight loss “cure” to the general public to get rid of the obesity epidemic for good.

While the promises made by Trudeau sound good on the surface, medical experts warn there are no short-cuts to safe, long-term weight loss. Dr. Michael Kaplan, founder and chief medical officer for The Center for Medical Weight Loss warns dieters to use caution when it comes to fad dieting. This is particularly true with diets that involve HCG weight loss supplements, since HCG diet dangers have been a concern for doctors and the FDA. In fact, the FDA clearly states that HCG has not been approved for weight loss, and few physicians are willing to prescribe the hormone for this purpose.

Four Phases, Including One for HCG Weight Loss

Trudeau’s “The Weight Loss Cure” involves four phases that promise to help dieters lose 30 pounds in just 30 days. The first phase involves colon and liver cleansings designed to prepare the body for the weight loss ahead. The second phase involves daily injections of HCG. The third phase teaches dieters to eat right and eat less, although cleanses continue throughout this phase. The final phase is a detoxification used to rid the body of parasites and heavy metal.

It should be noted that Trudeau is well known for his books promising everything from a cure for cancer to a cure for debt. The author and infomercial celebrity has also been in trouble with the law, with one conviction for larceny. He has also been restricted in using infomercials by the Federal Trade Commission, due to his misleading of consumers in the past.

Despite concerns, Trudeau’s book is selling well, as dieters are on the lookout for the next easiest way to lose weight. However, many believe that hazardous HCG diet side effects override any potential benefits the program may offer. Effective weight loss is best achieved under the careful supervision of an experienced physician, such as the medical team at The Center for Medical Weight Loss.

A study published in the American Journal of Medicine reports that patients in the program lose on average 11.1 percent of their total body weight in their first 12 weeks at the Center. Over 95% keep the weight off over the long term.

With 450 locations throughout the U.S., the doctors at the Center have helped thousands of patients write their own weight loss success stories.
